Free basic 3D Visuals and Walk-Throughs

As part of the design process, I provide free basic 3D visuals and walk-throughs to help you better understand the proposed space and layout. These models allow you to explore the design early on and see how the spaces connect, which is often far clearer than relying on plans alone.

Being able to view the design in 3D is particularly useful when developing internal layouts, such as kitchens, living areas and furniture arrangements. It allows ideas to be tested, adjusted and refined before decisions are fixed, helping to ensure the layout works well in everyday use.

These 3D tools support informed decision-making throughout the design process and help identify potential improvements early, reducing uncertainty and allowing the design to develop with confidence.

Optional Enhanced Photo-Realistic 3D & VR

For clients who would like a higher level of visual detail, enhanced 3D services are available as an optional extra. These include high-resolution, photo-realistic visuals and 360-degree imagery, allowing you to explore the proposed design in far greater depth.

The enhanced visuals can be viewed interactively on a tablet or experienced using a full virtual reality headset. The VR option places you inside the proposed extension or altered space, providing a fully immersive experience that closely reflects how the finished rooms will feel in terms of scale, proportion and layout.

This level of visualisation is particularly helpful when refining kitchen layouts, furniture arrangements, and storage solutions, as well as exploring different finishes, materials, colours and overall style. Being able to see and experience these options before anything is built makes it easier to compare alternatives and make confident design decisions.

FAQS

  • Do I need specialist software to view 3D?

No. The 3D visuals can be viewed on a computer, tablet or smartphone, and no specialist software or downloads are required.

Free basic 3D visuals are typically presented during a Zoom meeting, where I share my screen and guide you through the model. You can direct the walk-through, explore different areas of the design and discuss layout options in real time, with me controlling the model to make the process simple and easy to follow.

  • Do I need an expensive VR headset?

No. While some professional VR headsets can be expensive, there is no requirement to purchase one. If you already own a VR headset, the visuals can be viewed using that equipment.

Alternatively, there are more affordable smartphone-based VR headsets available online, typically starting from around £30. These use your smartphone as the display for the VR experience. Although they do not offer the same resolution as higher-end professional headsets, they still provide a clear and immersive way to experience the proposed design at a fraction of the cost.

  • Why 3D visuals and VR are so useful?

We experience our homes in three dimensions, not as flat drawings, which is why viewing a design in 3D is so helpful. 3D visuals and virtual reality make it easier to understand the scale of rooms, ceiling heights, how spaces connect and how the design will feel in everyday use. They allow layouts to be explored and refined early on, particularly for kitchens, living spaces and furniture arrangements, helping you make confident decisions before anything is built and reducing the need for changes later in the process.

  • Do you produce your own 3D visuals?

All 3D visuals and virtual reality work are produced in-house as part of the design process, rather than being outsourced to a separate visualisation studio. This approach is often more cost-effective, but more importantly it ensures the models are created by the same person developing the design. As a result, the visuals are technically accurate, properly coordinated with the drawings and based on real construction information, rather than purely graphical interpretations.
